One final Monday Night Football game to close out what has been, to put it mildly, an extremely odd season. We’ve had more Monday night games than usual thanks to rescheduling. We’ve had more Tuesday night games than usual. Hell, we’ve had a Wednesday night game.
Regardless, we’re closing things out and are getting ready for the playoffs with one of the teams that’s been more fun to watch this year, and another that’s had quite the downfall. The 11-3 Buffalo Bills head up to Foxborough, Mass., to face what’s left of the 6-8 New England Patriots in a divisional matchup that doesn’t really mean anything.
Buffalo already has won the AFC East, joining Pittsburgh, and Kansas City atop their respective divisions in the AFC. New England, meanwhile, is playing for that thing called pride and in all likelihood won’t see the best team the Bills can put on the field.
That said, Buffalo has won four straight, and a fifth consecutive win would do a lot for their momentum before hosting Miami in the regular-season finale next week. (The Dolphins are going to need to win that game to make the playoffs on their own terms.) Buffalo can’t do any better than third in the AFC, and they could fall to fourth should they lose their last two games. It’s doubtful they’d want to let that happen without a fight.
So in other words, game on.
Kickoff is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. Eastern time. The game, per usual, is on ESPN.
